AnkaCustom is the brainchild of Dany Anka, a passionate craftsman and musician who founded the company in 2011. Dany’s journey into the world of guitar and bass making started when as a bass player, he was looking for a bass with specific features that couldn’t be found on store-bought instruments. The only way to obtain those features was by ordering a custom bass from a luthier, but he couldn’t afford it. Drawing on his previous woodworking experience, and since he was always skilled with his hands and had a natural talent for craftsmanship, he decided to build the bass himself out of frustration. Although the first prototype was not perfect, it sounded great, and he was hooked.

He started searching for study materials in the field of guitar making, became a member of several luthier forums, bought guitar making books, and began practicing repairs for his fellow musician friends as a way to understand how instruments work. This eventually became his full-time job. He later completed a six-month apprenticeship with a local luthier. During that time, he gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in guitar construction and repair. He learned how to carve necks, insert frets, wire guitar electronics, and use the router for routing pockets and profiles. He also learned how to make inlays, sand and use power tools, and perform various guitar repairs.

Dany’s love for guitar making continued to grow, and he became fascinated by the advanced option of using CNC machines for manufacturing. In 2019, he acquired a CNC machine, which transformed his manufacturing process. With the CNC machine, he could achieve precision and consistency that was impossible with hand tools alone.

At AnkaCustom, the process of making guitars and basses is a labor of love. Each instrument is crafted by hand and infused with its unique character and sound. While the CNC machine is an essential tool, it is only a small part of the process. The rest of the work is done by skilled luthiers who spend countless hours shaping, sanding, fretting, soldering, and assembling each instrument.

The company’s components have been tested and refined over the years, drawing on the experience of its founder and his team, who are all seasoned musicians.
